  • Overview

    This position combines quantitative & qualitative analysis, managing the company’s quarterly ALLL process, and helping develop a structured process for the ACL post-CECL implementation. The goal is to produce well understood reserve estimates under a well-controlled and documented process, to stand up to scrutiny of internal and external review. The focus is on analyzing drivers, model monitoring, effective communication, and developing materials for quarterly reviews conducted with senior management.

     

    Ensures compliance with established Company policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Bank Secrecy Act in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Customer Information Program, Right to Financial Privacy Act (state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the ALLL Committee calendar and meeting agendas, produce meeting materials, and document Committee meetings
    • Manage department agenda and maintain coordination with partner departments
    • Manage control processes while producing ALLL estimates and developing supporting reports and meeting materials
    • Support process transformation and development for the Bank’s CECL transition
    • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Risk, and within the team on projects, as needed
    • Conduct monitoring of ALLL methodologies and ensure compliance with model governance standards, including model validation support
    • Analyze and document qualitative items evaluated in the reserve estimation process
    • Maintain ALLL back-testing framework for multiple models
    • Be able to provide input regarding quarterly process considerations during model development and throughout model life-cycles
    • Analyze, report, and communicate sub-portfolio movements and partner internally with the loss forecasting team to understand performance
    • Provide support for analytical projects that enhance team capabilities and augment the broader team’s understanding of the portfolio and modeling approaches (e.g., portfolio deep-dives, benchmarking, etc.)
    • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.     • Degree with quantitative underpinning (i.e., Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) and 5+ years of experience in Credit, Risk, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, or other relevant professional experience, or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 5+ years in Credit, Risk, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, or other relevant profession
    • 2+ years experience developing data into presentations, preferably using EXCEL and PowerPoint, for use at meetings with senior management
    • 1+ year of experience using VBA / SAS / SQL to perform statistical analysis, query relational databases, and handle large amounts of data
    • Quantitative underpinning, MBA, CFA, CAS or SOA exams, or other relevant certifications or designations
    • Experience with models and methods for predicting credit loss impairment for ALLL, Loss Forecasting, Stress Testing, or other purposes, especially with respect to consumer credit cards
    • Experience with corporate committees and related documentation requirements
    • Writing skills to document technical, complex discussions in succinct meeting minutes
    • Familiarity with lending business practices, trends, and developments, especially with respect to credit cards
    • Knowledge of external environment, industry/competitor profiles, and common macro-economic indicators and correlations
    • Strong skills and experience with Microsoft EXCEL, PowerPoint, and Word
    • Ability to create programs for analytic purposes in SAS, SQL, R, Python
    • Ability to manage multiple competing initiatives and deliver results within deadlines and with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and time management skills
